Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Wilkes-Barre with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Pennsylvania may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 10 AM–8 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach India Bazar at (570) 371-3866; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

With 4.1 out of 5 on Google from 163 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for asian grocery stores in Wilkes-Barre. Recent reviews are the best guide.

Wilkes-Barre is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Wilkes-Barre follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

It’s not easy to find; it’s around the corner. But it’s a good shop for anyone who likes Indian spices.

The vegetable supply and prices are the main reason my wife makes me come here. There's a lot here for people from the Philippines I. e whole fish frozen and Longanisa sausage. I buy almond cookies, Kulfi ice cream, and Indian popsicles. I also buy Naan bread frozen and eat it with chutney frozen. I don't eat it frozen , just telling you that's how I get it.

I usually prefer supporting local Indian grocery stores, but I had a very uncomfortable experience here. During my visit, the owner and group of people were drinking alcohol right behind the counter and using abusive language, in full view of customers. It felt highly unprofessional and inappropriate for a place where families, including kids, come to shop. The store itself has a decent selection, but behavior like this affects the overall atmosphere and makes customers think twice about returning. I hope the management takes this seriously and makes the necessary changes to ensure a more respectful and welcoming environment.

Small store and price is bit expensive compared to Toronto. Would love to see price tag on the products rather than finding out at the cash counter. Positive part is that you should be able to find most indian spices and ingredients here which is very convenient.

Update: They have added price tags for few items 🙂 Small shop but self- sufficient. Prices are fair. They allow only 5 people at a time which is great. I wish they could put a price tag for the groceries. Tip: Visit the store on Thursdays for fresh groceries.
